Marriage counseling is hard work. It's hard on the couples who come in, angry and in pain, wanting to stay with their spouse and not knowing how. And it's hard on most counselors. Not many are trained and experienced enough to sit with couples as they struggle, and actually contain them while finding a way for them to communicate and connect emotionally. Some couples come for help getting over a rough patch in a good relationship, while others come with their marriage on the line. I can help you if you are both committed to staying together.

My work with couples uses the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a "nuts-and-bolts" approach for improving relationships. Based on Gottmans research on what makes relationships succeed or fail, this will give you tools to deepen friendship and intimacy, to manage conflicts and "resolvable problems" and dialogue about "gridlocked" ones.

There are three phases: Assessment, Treatment and Phasing Out. The assessment phase takes three 90 minute sessions when you are seen as a couple and individually. There are questionnaires to fill out. In the third session, I will give you my recommendations and help you define goals for your counseling.

“I have always considered Eugene Kayser to be a very accomplished and effective therapist. Over the years I have known him, I have been impressed by his compassion and commitment to helping individuals and couples, as well as his practicality in achieving therapeutic goals. His training and skills are very evident in the way he facilitates sessions, and works with his clients to enable them to change and thrive.
A common question among therapists is whether you would send someone you knew to a particular therapist. In the case of Eugene I would have no hesistation in referring anyone I knew to him. I recommend him without reservation for anyone seeking a quality therapist.
