“Often times we may come to feel highly stressed, angered, overburdened, discouraged, or alone. We need help, we need relief, we need things to get better. We may be struggling through frustrating or painful relationships, disorienting transitions, perplexing conflicts, wounding losses, or some other problem in our life. Therapy helps most people. In talking with a trained therapist, who listens with attunement, and is reflective and knowledgeable, we usually find new and hopeful ways of experiencing ourselves, our relationships, and our lives. The positive therapy experience is founded on an equal partnership of trust, confidentiality, and mutual feedback.

The therapist often varies their role in therapy. I may be a "mirror", a "team" partner, a guide, a mentor, and a "consultant". According to need, I may be quite direct and interactive with my clients, analytical, simply reflective, or I may quietly, deeply listen to them and their experience.

I regularly ask my clients to assess their satisfaction with the counseling process, so we know if we are "on track" and "in sync". My American/French bi-lingual and bi-cultural upbringing has led me to question the "assumed". Honest questioning clarifies values and life direction.
