“As a therapist, I am like a mirror that offers people a perspective they might not otherwise have. Many people have excellent insight into the behavior of others but struggle when it comes to looking at their own behavior. It's like the fact that we have eyes that we can see with and yet, we cannot see our own eyes. In addition, I always wanted to be a coach, a minister and a teacher. So, as a therapist, I coach people on their behavior, minister to their pain and teach new perspectives.
Individual, Couples and Family Therapy are the focus of my practice. My style is Person Centered using cognitive/behavior techniques. We form a relationship and then identify and reinforce your strengths as well as establishing changes you want to make and then help you find the motivation/s to change.
Before anyone opens up about their issues, they need to feel safe. Initially, therapy is a "getting to know you" process. Once a safe emotional environment is established, people feel free to share their problems and to accept feedback when it is offered.”

An ongoing general Men's Therapy Group covering issues from Relationships to Grief & Loss to Life's Difficulties. Cognitive/Behavioral in orientation for the purpose of establishing emotional safety no one may join the group without a course of individual therapy (4 to 6 sessions) with the primary therapist, Bill Calkins. Bill facilitates the group with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as his co-therapist.
