I am a clinical psychologist, trained in psychoanalysis, who treats adults and adolescents. Psychoanalysts are often portrayed in the media as therapists who hardly speak and only focus on the past. That makes for good movies, but it is not an accurate description of many psychoanalysts and certainly not of how I work. I am interactive with clients, straightforward, and provide feedback. I am also, however, a good listener and view my client as a partner in the therapeutic process. My goal is to enhance your self-awareness and enable you to become liberated from maladaptive patterns.
The bottom line is to decrease suffering while better fulfilling your individuality and potential. Although humor and play are often part of how I work, I take what I do quite seriously.
This serious approach to my work motivated me to complete four years of non-required training in psychoanalysis after attaining a doctorate in psychology. This training not only enables me to understand how a person developed their difficulties, but to explore both present and past in order to effect change.
