I know that therapy can make an enormous difference in people's lives. I've seen it again and again. And if you're considering therapy, you've probably reached a point where you realize that something's got to change. Getting that change started is a big step. And finding someone you feel comfortable with makes all the difference. I'll want first and foremost to understand the situation you're in, and to get a sense of how you see things. I'll want to understand what you've been experiencing, and what sorts of changes you'd like to see.
Once we have a clear understanding of what's happening for you, and a sense of where you want things to go, then--together--we'll get you there. It takes work, and it's not always easy, but if you're working with the right person, things will change.
I'm a graduate of MIT, a faculty member in the Graduate Program in Holistic Counseling at SRU and the Gestalt International Study Center, and I've trained therapists around the world. Everyone has certain patterns of relating to others. Some of these patterns "work"--they get us what we want—and some don't. Often, our habitual patterns of relating to others leave us frustrated, hurt, and/or angry. In a group, you uncover the patterns that aren't working for you, and have the chance to experiment with changing them in a safe setting. The learning that takes place from this process within the group is highly transferable to other areas of your life.
