Karina McGovern

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and am currently writing my dissertation. I have a unique specialty with children & adolescents, but I equally enjoy working with adults. I moved to Virginia from Portland, Oregon where I lived for 15 years and worked as a clinical therapist, educator, & theatre director. My background combines a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, and a Masters degree in Education. I have worked with the public school system as a teacher and clinician, and I am also a professor of human development & clinical theory.

I work with all ages, including BOTH children AND adults, in a tranquil, comfortable, & creative office setting. A few of my specialties include: loss and grief, relationship issues, self-esteem, transitions & adjustments, play therapy, sandplay therapy, and Asperger's. I have flexible office hours, including weekends as needed.

I have been specially trained in Jungian techniques such as Sandplay and Active Imagination, and am also well-versed in CBT. I believe in helping people reach their full potential, and assisting in removing stigmas associated with individual personality traits and diagnoses. Please visit my website for more information.
