I am an experienced and compassionate counsellor that helps clients to achieve their goals through a non-judgemental approach that focuses on each client as an individual. I work with individuals, couples, families, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, anger, relationship problems, and more. Clients can expect to experience an improved general mood and to learn coping strategies and techniques that can be used beyond therapy. I work with clients to clearly outline what they would like to achieve through counselling and we openly monitor progress on a regular basis. Please visit www.therapyheals.ca

One of my unique specialty areas, which can be difficult to find, is work with eating disorders. My approach involves recognizing the complexity of eating problems and the challenges of letting them go. My work centres on how each unique individual is experiencing the eating disorder and working on both the symptoms as well as the underlying issues that may be contributing to the eating disorder.

Lastly, my Registered Nurse experience coupled with my Masters education in counselling psychology allows me to offer a distinct perspective for clients. Please contact me for futher information about how I can help you with whatever problem you may be experiencing.

Mrs. Amelia Perri also hosts the following groups:

Support Group for Family and Friends of those with

This support group is for friends and family of those suffering with eating disorders. Eating disorders are complex and it can be difficult to know how to interact with your loved one with this problem. This group offers education, guidelines, support, and connection with others in a similar situation. Friends and family of those with eating disorders often also need help and support and this group provides this opportunity.

Intuitive Eating Support Group

In this support group I work with clients to learn the principles of intuitive eating (Tribole & Resch, 2003). There is ample research evidence to indicate that diets do not work. Many women have learned this for themselves. Intuitive eating is a sustainable alternative to dieting that allows women to achieve and maintain their natural weight. Benefits and outcomes include a reduction in emotional and overeating, the ability to manage emotions without food, and self respect and acceptance.

(Re) Discovering who you are: Beyond the Eating Di

Eating disorders are often all consuming and can take over one's identity and sense of self. Have you ever felt confused about "who you would be without the eating disorder". The eating disorder can feel like it has taken over your identity. In this group you will learn to rediscover and reconnect with who you are and what is important to you beyond the eating disorder.
