Audrey Bernstein

I have extensive experience in working with the issues so many people confront as part of life: illness, losses, family and job stressors, aging, depression/anxiety, bereavement, and chronic mental illness. Sometimes people need a safe, compassionate place to gain the awarenesses needed to make necessary changes. Additionally, my background in education makes me a firm believer in the value of psychoeducation as one of the major tools for enhancing improved coping skills for dealing with personal, family, and life stressors. The counseling process thus becomes a collaborative effort based on the client's needs and goals.

My work with older adults and caregivers has given me acute awareness of the stressors resulting from life cycle events, no matter what the age. This work has also given me an awareness of the coping skills people have developed, which can be strengthened and enhanced through counseling.

Within my sub-specialty of working with older people and their caregivers, I offer consultations and home visits, if needed, in addition to the more typical venue of counseling.
