Some of the pages on the Psychology Today site require that you have your browser set to accept cookies.
For example, if you are a therapist listed in our Therapy Directory a "cookie" is placed on your computer when you log in to recognize you as you click from page to page. This allows our web server to display the correct information for you and keeps others from making unauthorized changes to your profile.
Once you log out your cookie is discarded until you log in again - at which point you are assigned a new one.
We also use cookies in our Ask Our Therapist section for the same reasons as above; to protect your identity -- not to compromise it. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
