Life can be challenging, overwhelming and confusing at times, whether you are an adult, adolescent or child. I work to help clients and their families define these emotions, recognize the control they have and build their strengths to shape new, healthy coping skills .I specialize in working with anxiety and mood disorders and have worked extensively during the past 25 years with families, children and adolescents to help them find answers that are right for them. Additionally, I have experience working with adults and children who have suffered PTSD or trauma, using a cognitive-behavioral approach with proven mind/body techniques.
As a (retired) military family member, I also have experience working with military families and the issues unique to their lives. I have worked with military personnel and their family members who are dealing with the pressures created in the family due to deployment and the stressors of active duty.
My office, Berkmar Counseling Collaborative, is located near University of Virginia, and I work cooperatively with other therapists to provide testing and assessments within our agency, as well as working with other community resources as needed.
