Dr. Aaron M Wolfson

“A New Orleans native, I have practiced psychology in the New Orleans area since 2000. The majority of my work focuses on the impact that chronic pain and disability have on the individual, the family, and the community. I work closely with anesthesiologists, physiatrists, orthopedists and other specialists to facilitate an interdisciplinary treatment plan. I try to integrate information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and thorough record review to offer action-based, cognitive behavioral treatment. I believe strongly in patient involvment, and encourage active participation in care.

I completed a residency and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Rehabilitation Psychology. UW's Multidisciplinary Pain Center was one of the first of its kind in the country, and I was fortunate to train with some innovators in the interdisciplinary treatment of chronic pain.

I use an action-based, cognitive behavioral approach to identify strengths and build on them. I offer both individual and group psycho-educational therapy that relies strongly on patient education and behavior change. I work closely with other treating physicians to create a collaborrative, interdisciplinary treatment plan.”
