I'm a therapist in Rutland, VT with immediate openings - - With the excitement similar to buying a new car, you pronounce loudly to the world, "I did it, I called a therapist! My appointment is tomorrow!" Friends on Facebook congratulate you and your co-workers say they're proud of you. You count the hours until your first meeting with eager anticipation. You even wear your lucky jeans. You stop early to get your favorite coffee and listening to the birds sing, you think - "Wow, I feel better already. And I haven't gotten there yet. This guy is good!"

Actually, you're not excited at all. You wonder what to say, worry about judgment, if you can articulate what bothers you, will therapy be helpful, will the therapist laugh at you or worse, say that you're beyond help. Sound like you? If so, you're in good company.

Then imagine what it's like leaving my office the day you decide, "Things are so much better, thanks." The feeling that indicates to you, "It was worth my time." Focus on that, because that feeling lasts a lot longer than the worry of meeting me for the first time.
