A. Canelli

Counselor , MA , LMHC , NCC

(206) 504-2124
Welcome to my practice! I work with children, adolescents, and adults. When working with clients, I am especially sensitive to how oppression (racism, sexism, transphobia, biphobia, homophobia, ageism, classism, anti-Semitism, ableism, etc.) impacts mental health and identity. I don't believe transgender, gender queer, gender different, etc., people should be forced to go to therapy to get the gender confirming care they want. Therapy and counseling should be a choice and I don't see gender difference as a mental health issue. For more information about this please visit: www.icath.org.
Some of the issues we can explore: Family of Origin Dynamics, Cultural Opression and Social Opression. I work with my clients to help them look at themselves as a whole. Not only within themselves, but in the context of our entire cultural environment.
I have been working with the LGBTQ Community for over 10 years. I have focused on Transgender, Gender Variant and Gender Queer individuals as an advocate and as a therapist. You can learn more about this work at www.icath.org and at www.canellicounseling.com
