Ms. Barbara Goldberg

Marriage & Family Therapist , MA , LMFT

(916) 546-1695
In 38 years of practice I have worked with a wide variety of clients and am familiar with many modalities. I am also a tai chi practitioner and teacher. I use cognitive behavioral techniques and give lots of homework but my primary focus is helping you to love and accept yourself and to learn to soothe yourself without having to turn to destructive and addictive methods to try to feel better. I work with individual adults and couples and deal with anxiety, stress, depression, couples conflicts, anger, post-traumatic stress disorder, and non-chemical addictions.
I'm a very interactive therapist. I talk as well as listen and I will be very straight-forward and honest with you. My expectation is that you will do the assigned homework and bring it with you to the next session so we can discuss it and grow from it.
I work at home with my dogs Ranger and Sherman, who are training to be my cotherapists. Ranger can be aloof but sometimes we get lucky and he can be soothing, calming, and sympathetic once you get past the barking at the door. Sherman is a sweet, mellow fellow.
