My clinical work has consisted of treating a variety of clients with different backgrounds and concerns. I am particularly interested and experienced in treating interpersonal relationship problems, family of origin issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, substance abuse, codependency and LGBTQ issues. I enjoy facilitating individual, couples and group therapy with adults. As a compassionate, yet assertive clinician, I work with clients to meet self-identified goals. I view myself more as a guide and mentor than expert. My clients have described me as "down to earth" and "personable."
An insight-oriented therapist, my approach includes a combination of Psychodynamic Processing, Family Systems, Ego Psychology and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Meditation and mindfulness practice provide pathways to self-compassion, forgiveness and healing. EMDR is often used to treat trauma, anxiety and unresolved loss.
My practice is unique in that I offer special insight and understanding surrounding sexual minority concerns, social justice issues, codependency, addiction and 12-step philosophy. I am certified in EMDR. I have been facilitating an interpersonal process group for LGBTQ individuals since 2007 and accept group referrals as well.
