My practice specializes in marriage counseling and couples therapy. I have 28 years of experience working with individuals, families, and couples that are in crisis - due to issues such as infidelity, chronic marital dissatisfaction, parenting issues, and family conflicts. I believe that counseling should be a relatively brief process in which the therapist provides a supportive environment and actively works to help clients gain greater insight and develop more effective ways for improving communication, intimacy, and the overall quality of their relationship. The systemic cognitive-behavioral approaches I utilize in therapy focus on changing problematic behaviors and developing new relationship skills. I work to help clients clarify issues, recognize dysfunctional relationship patterns, and bring about desired changes in order to build healthier and more satisfying relationships.

I am a former clinical director of a Ph.D. program in marriage and family therapy - licensed in Louisiana as a marriage and family therapist and in Arkansas as a psychologist. In addition to my private practice, I teach graduate students in counseling and family therapy at a state university.
