About Our Facility

Spruce Mountain Inn offers a structured, comprehensive treatment program that combines therapeutic/psychiatric intervention, vocational development, substance abuse treatment and skills training within the context of a supportive community. The program is structured as a continuum of service with intensive sub-acute services, residential treatment, monitored apartment living.

Philosophy

At Spruce Mountain Inn, a typical candidate is 17 years of age or older and has several of the following characteristics: a serious psychiatric problem effecting mood, thinking, and/or the ability to manage stress; difficulty maintaining healthy relationships; difficulty sustaining employment; difficulty managing daily affairs; difficulty managing time; an addiction; and/or a need to become more independent from family.

In the residential program, 12 clients live in single or double rooms and participate in the routine of group living. There are also 3 individual on-site apartments, an un-staffed group residence and community based apartments. Initially, a client's day is highly structured around a variety of groups and activities. As time goes on, days include volunteer and competitive work placements and/or classes in the local community, which replace activities at the Inn. A case manager, psychotherapist, support worker, vocational coordinator, and psychiatrist each meet with the program participants to work on specific treatment goals. As clients make progress, they take on greater levels of independence and the intensity of service is reduced.
