“Psychoanalysis has been called the 'talking cure'. That is how I view it, as a relationship which has the potential to heal difficult emotional states such as depression, anxiety, grief, fear/insecurity, isolation/emptiness. In my own experience the therapeutic situation allowed me to recover from familial dysfunction and trauma and gave me the opportunity to develop in ways I had not thought possible. But whatever the reasons for seeking therapy its unique intimacy can always help us become more conscious of the forces that shaped us, and encourage us in the possibility of freely determining our own future.

Because I think of therapy as an intimate conversation I have no particular speciality. I welcome anyone who is genuinely interested in exploring the process, short or long term. Being of Italian-Canadian descent, though, I do have a particular sensitivity for issues relating to the immigrant experience.

In addition to being a therapist I have also taught philosophy at York University for the past 20 years. My specialty is existential philosophy. So my therapeutic approach is somewhat influened by this tradition of thought. I have also spent a great deal of time studying earth-based spirituality.”
