“What's most important is to feel understood. Whether your therapist comes with a psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, family systems or coaching mindset- the Psychotherapist or Life Coach must know how to listen without professional or personal distortions. I've worked effectively with artists, through periods of creative abandonment -- clients who feel "cut-off", socially - those entering retirement, looking for something that's eluded them in the workforce. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, in practice for more than 20 years, using an approach that can best be described as existential.

In my more recent work, supervising the clinical needs of masters and doctorate level interns on the Clinical Research and Evaluation Facility (Nathan Kline Center for Psychiatric Research), I've come to pay more attention to the guiding words of the patient or client - as an overriding guide to the movement of the treatment.

This is a principle shared by the Existential Psychotherapist and the Life Coach, and I offer both. While my early training focused more on Family Therapy, Ericksonian thinking and Cognitive Therapy -- my most recent training was with the American Philosophical Practitioner's Association (Certified Affiliate) and NYU (Certificate in Personal and Life Coaching).”
