I specialize in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I see individuals across the entire spectrum of difficulties for which people seek therapy, but offer something other than only problem-focused treatment. My experience has shown me that many individuals require more intensive exploration of their internal processes and unique history in order to achieve not only lasting symptomatic relief,but also to clear away repetitive interferences in relationships and work. Often I see individuals who feel there is more to their story of difficulty than meets the eye-- unconscious factors--and that their story has neither been adequately told nor heard.

Psychoanalysis and psychotherapy are conducted in an arrangement designed to enhance safety, freedom of thought and verbal expression, in which truth can be sought, discovered, and said. It develops as a special kind of "conversation," in a unique collaborative relationship freed from the constraints of typical social interaction.

While I am experienced in working with all age groups, I have had the privilege of especially rich and intensive experience with adolescents and young adults (20-35). I also have applied a psychoanalytic understanding to work with couples and families and see both as well as individuals.
