I enjoy getting to know my clients as people. I feel honored by the trust people place in me when they tell me their life stories and reveal their hearts. The journey of psychotherapy is a co-creation between therapist and client and the decision to participate in your own healing through psychotherapy can be both exciting and uncomfortable. It takes energy, time and commitment (from therapist and client alike) to cultivate an authentic relationship conducive to deep change. My therapeutic method respects all these ingredients with a particular emphasis on self-compassion and the client's relationship with self.
I teach skills for living an authentic and self-compassionate life. These skills are foundational to healing any crisis or problem. At their core, all human struggles produce stress, anxiety and distraction, regardless of the problem labels we apply. I help people increase internal calm, awareness, and confidence in themselves.
I intentionally live the skills I teach. These include mindfulness-meditation, assertive communication, healthy boundary setting and differentiation. I am a formal student of Zen Buddhism and I have completed an intensive professional training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn.
