People come to therapy for many reasons but most often it is because they are in distress. In therapy they find comfort, relief of pain and often personal growth. As a therapist, I become a resource, helping you to find better ways of coping, and to create more peace and satisfaction in everyday life. In sessions we may process losses or traumatic events, put family of origin conflicts to rest, alter relationship and communication patterns. Psychology offers many methods for providing relief. Talking Helps! Skype sessions are available as needed.
I offer specialized stress management services for first responders: police, fire, ems and corrections officers. Focus also on active duty and veteran military clients. My practice can be helpful with deployment support, post deployment readjustment, family support and coping with multiple deployments. Assistance with post traumatic stress.
I am a clinical psychologist and a registered nurse. I am certified as a Specialist in treating First Responders and Emergency Services Personnel by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Member: New Jersey Crisis Intervention Response Network, American Psychological Association, International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

Dr. Strauss is a talented and compassionate clinician. He has a deep and accurate understanding of current best practices in both medication and psychotherapy and uses specific interventions as indicated after carefully considering the needs of each individual client. He is a valued colleague and I consult with him regularly when I have a particularly challenging situation. I recommend him without hesitation. He is one of the best psychiatrists I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
