Dr. James C Martin

“Life often forces us into transitions not of our choosing. Our own personal and professional growth often leads us to others. I work with individuals and couples in constructively addressing the dangers and intentionally claiming the opportunities such transitions presents. I have done so in a psychiatric hospital, a hospital-based cancer center and in private practice. By credentialing, I am a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapist and a Clinical Fellow with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. I also teach graduate courses in counseling at Southern Nazarene University as an adjunct faculty member.

I have extensive experience working with stepfamily couples to address their complex marital and family issues; working with military couples and families; working with persons dealing with trauma (recent or past) and chronic illness such as cancer; working with professional persons making intentional changes in their lives, plus grief and loss

I have experienced major life transitions both professionally and personally, including career changes, divorce and remarriage, stepfamily life, dealing with childhood and adult trauma, changes in faith orientation and affiliation, illness and deaths of a parent and in-laws, etc. I am committed to transforming tragedy into opportunity for growth & fulfilment.”
