At certain times in their lives, people experience problems that are too difficult to handle alone. When their usual modes of coping no longer work for them, they feel overwhelmed and may want to learn new ways of coping through psychotherapy. Even though ways of responding based on past experiences may no longer be helpful, people tend to repeat old patterns of behaving, thinking and feeling. In psychotherapy I can assist you to understand these "habits", to see alternatives and to change.
I am a registered clinical psychologist with over twenty-five years of psychotherapy experience. Before entering private practice I worked with outpatients and inpatients at Kingston General Hospital. I have also worked in community agencies and I have taught courses in the Psychology department of Queen's University.
I was fortunate in my Ph.D. studies in Clinical Psychology to receive in-depth training in psychotherapy and to be exposed to a variety of approaches. In my practice, I match these approaches with client needs at different times in their treatment.
