“In my psychotherapy I work with both men and women adults of all ages, civilian or military, who feel overwhelmed by stress. I believe that people's psychological issues result mainly from stressful social events--whether in the person's past or present life, or both. Prior social learning, current needs and obstacles, difficult family members, friends, co-workers, and other concerns, all contribute to stress. In turn, a person may feel unpleasant emotions and a lack of control, a strong desire for change, and the need for support, advice, and alternative ways to live.

My practice emphasizes the management of stress--work or family stress, trauma due to, say, accidents or military experiences, major life events, mid-life crises, and related emotional problems (anxiety, depression, sleeplessness)--using cognitive/behavioral approaches that help people learn new coping strategies, emotional control, and more effective life skills.

My therapy includes relaxation and behavioral desensitization techniques, including EMDR, emotional self-control, and other client-centered approaches that allow for personal expression in a safe and positive context. I believe that a therapist is a catalyst for change who can open new paths and new possibilities for life.”
