Joseph James Williams

Counselor , LMHC , CCMHC, ACT

(646) 759-0506
As a Diplomat and Certified Cognitive Therapist from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, my highest priority is to improve the quality of life of individuals and families suffering from psychological difficulties. I encourage my clients not to avoid times of challenge and distress but to utilize them as opportunities for re-prioritizing, transformation and personal growth. I am committed to helping each of my patients to identify what a purposeful life means to them and to mutually working through whatever obstacles may interfere with living that life.
Since CT has become the most proven and recommended type of therapy, many psychotherapists now claim to know how to do CT, unfortunately very few are actually credentialed or trained to do so. Joseph is also a Board Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor from the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Beyond his graduate training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Joseph has special expertise in Rational Emotive Behavioral therapy (REBT), a powerful and traditional form of cognitive therapy. His experience and training in this seminal type of CBT was gained at The Albert Ellis Institute in New York City.
