I like to work together with my client as a team, learning from each individual what his or her needs and narratives are, and collaborating on reasonable approaches to solving or managing difficulties. I've been in private practice full time since 1988 and in the mental health field since 1979, and with each year, I learn more about how to facilitate your trust within yourself, to illuminate your personal empowerment and choices, and to offer hope about not only surviving but thriving through past or present difficulties.
My practice serves adults suffering from relationship difficulties, fears about how others or situations can be hurtful, and sadness about past experiences or losses. I provide support for grief and loss, contextual relational dynamics, and recovery from traumatic situations. My practice is friendly for both straight and gay persons.
In addition to providing counseling and therapy to individuals, couples, and families, I facilitate several groups in the area, and also provide training and consultation to agencies and organizations, including the focus on clinical supervision topics and in suicide prevention. Further, I have a special interest and knowledge in adoptive families.
