phone: (802) 458-0097I like to think of my style as ecclectic and individualized to the client's needs. I draw from 17 years of experience using various techniques including a mind/body approach called Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) for emotional issues, trauma and addictions . I use both talk therapy and mindfulness to help the client work through traumatic memories and emotional blocks stored in the deeper layers of the psyche in a gentle way. Some issues treated include anxiety/depression, anger, self-esteem, grief, spirituality and relationships. The focus of treatment is on self-empowerment through self-discovery.
I realize that what works for one person may not work for another so I draw from different sources to help the client work where they are comfortable. Latest research now supports using mindfulness with body focused therapies in treating trauma. Experience in meditation, dance, and as a holistic practitioner has influenced my work.
I lived 15 years outside of the United States and am tri-lingual. Having practiced in Bogota, Colombia for 5 years, I am used to treating people from varied backgrounds. Despite my years of training and work in various settings, I like to think my life experience has been my best teacher.
