About Our Facility

The programs of The Pinnacle Schools (TPS) are empirically derived to provide clinically supported diagnostic, assessment and treatment services to troubled teens ages 12-18. Students present with a myriad of problems including but not limited to: ADD/ ADHD /ODD, bipolar disorder/depression, Asperger's Syndrome, substance abuse, online gaming addiction, adoption/divorce/family issues, obesity, academic decline/ learning differences, and negative peer relationships. TPS offers a short-term program, a step-up midterm program with a flexible length of stay, and a teen weight management program. The therapeutic intervention provided halts maladaptive behaviors and assists teens in growing intellectually, emotionally, behaviorally, and spiritually.

Philosophy

The challenge of the outdoors is used as a therapeutic teaching tool. Students are removed from their comfort zone to a base campus providing facilities for safety, medical care, therapeutic care, accredited education and hygiene. Our professional staff includes a child psychiatrist, medical physicians, licensed psychologist, licensed professional counselors, registered nurses, a registered dietician, and Ph.D. and Master's level educators. We utilize a Treatment Team approach when working with students and their families. The team includes professional staff, parents, educational consultants, and student's psychologist/psychiatrist. Individual treatment plans are designed for each student and necessary modifications are made at bi-weekly treatment team meetings. All members of the team will be updated regularly as the student progresses, and will be involved in developing a transition and aftercare plan which meets the student's specific needs and goals. TPS emphasizes parent training throughout treatment and a 3-day parent workshop is provided upon completion of the program.

Therapy includes cognitive behavior modification in the group process model led by a psychologist or LPC. Therapeutic workshops include but are not limited to: abandonment, anger management, goal setting, accountability, communication skills, peer relations, and experiential learning. Specialty groups include AA/NA/OA/Olganon and optional Bible Study. All students participate in a one-week off campus expedition challenge. All programs offer fully SACS CASI accredited academic curricula, credit recovery and state certified educators.
