Ms. Karen Mayes

I am a Clinical Social Worker and a Relational (Contemporary) Psychoanalyst. I have helped people who want to make changes in their lives for over 20 years. I am trained to help with depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, health concerns, low self-esteem and all traumas, including issues stemming from abuse. I believe that change comes through understanding how your unique history unfolded and how it affects you in the present. I offer a safe and non-judgemental place for you to share your thoughts and feelings. I believe relationships are transforming, including the one you have with your therapist.

Our work will include helping you understand yourself by exploring your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. It is important to talk with a therapist who is non-judgemental. Our work will be a personal process. Analysts are the only therapists who are required to have personal therapy while in their training.

All people have problems and should be able to seek help without feeling judged or labeled. I want to help you explore your feelings in a safe and supportive place. Most people feel that psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis are "life-changing." It hinges on a trusting relationship between client and therapist.
