Kathy Kater

Clinical Social Work/Therapist , LICSW

(651) 964-0946
Kathy has over 30 years of experience helping individuals and couples cope more effectively with the normal, but difficult issues faced by most people, as well as helping those who are suffering with more severe emotional and/or behavioral problems. Her work with adolescents and adults is driven by solid training, respect for the personal history of each individual, and a wam, friendly, practical, but caring way. Rather than adhering to one therapeutic approach, Kathy is concerned foremost about what works best with each and every client. She will work with you individually, or in conjunction with your family.
For over 25 years Kathy has specialized in treatment and prevention of the full spectrum of body image, eating, fitness and weight concerns, including Eating Disorders and concerns about overweight or obesity. She is an internationally recognized authority and is regularly invited to speak to professional and lay audiences alike.
Frustrated that progress in understanding body image and eating concerns has not translated into effective prevention, Kathy authored 2 books: Healthy Body Image: Teaching Kids to Eat and Love Their Bodies Too!, (1998, National Eating Disorder Association), and Ten Essential Lessons to Build Your Child's Body Esteem (2004, Random House).
