Dr. Kevin R Byrd's groups

Emotional Regulation Group - college age adults

This group blends skill training with group process to help people who suffer from emotional dysregulation and its impact on behavior. We focus on mindfulness, interpersonal skills, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance skills. Group members also interact with and support one another. The group is open ended - clients can join any time and terminate whenever they feel ready. It is required that the client be working with an individual therapist while in the group.

More about this group

Family Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

This group is for parents and teens when the teens are exhibiting emotional and behavioral dysregulation such as self-harm, temper tantrums, running away from home, and other impulsive behaviors. Parents learn skills along with the teens in order to better manage their own intense emotional reactions to their teens' problem behaviors, role model "mindful" regulation of emotions, behaviors, and interpersonal skills, and coach the teen on DBT skills.
