Dr. Whittington is recognized as one of the 500 best therapists in the United States. He has four earned degrees. All forms of media consult him and consider him an expert in the mental and emotional health of families and individuals. Dr. Whittington is currently a licensed professional counselor, a business owner , and consultant to businesses, schools, and churches. A researcher/educator/counselor for twenty-plus years, he has taught and designed curricula for Kindergarten through Graduate School. Dr. Whittington's coaching is based on practical experience having raised two children with his wife of 37 years.
Dr. Whittington most often uses a cognitive/behavioral approach in therapy, yet he is skilled in family systems, cognitive restructuring, gestalt, and other approaches. Brief Therapy and coaching are standard modalities. Dr. Whittington focuses on getting to the "root" problems rather than treating symptoms.
Dr. Whittington empowers people to find "Freedom From The Past" and the "stinkin' thinking" derived from it. The last several years he has focused on designing and implementing preventative programs for organizations and families. These have been highly successful. He finds preventing problems equally rewarding as solving them.
