Ms. Meryl Brownstein

“Welcome to my counseling practice for adults, adolescents, couples and families. I am a Board Certified, Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health who has been practicing in Delaware for 19 years. I treat a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, marriage/relational problems, coming of age issues, and the everyday struggles of daily life. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to healing. To this end, I strive to offer a caring, compassionate environment where each client feels unique, validated, and deserving.

To achieve this end, I integrate various therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ego states therapy and EMDR. I am a Level II trained EMDR practitioner. EMDR is used for all levels of trauma from car accidents, rape and violence, to abusive family backgrounds and stressful work environments.

As a former dancer and current yoga practitioner, I am keenly aware of how memories are stored in the body.I use meditation, breath work, and guided imagery to help people regulate their nervous system. I am currently exploring how to combine Yoga into my therapeutic practice.”
