“Beating the depression beast through focused, solution-oriented work, and mood management skill development--that is my focus. I help equip adults, aged 18+, to "be their own therapist" by learning and using specific tools/skills to take back their lives from the depression or anxiety that has robbed them of joy. Most clients average between 5-15 sessions and then manage terrifically on their own with only occasional support. Clients are asked to read, do homework, and practice skills contained in the "CBT Toolbox". Get one free (I'm happy to share) at www.coastalcognitive.com, then call me!

I specialize in an evidence-based, solution-focused therapy called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Over 350 outcome studies have shown it to be consistently very effective in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, other mood problems in addition to chronic pain, hypertension, and related medical problems. Read more at: www.coastalcognitive.com

I am the only PhD level Clinical Psychologist in the state of South Carolina who is certified to provide Cognitive Therapy by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy (headed by Aaron Beck, MD, the originator of Cognitive Therapy). I also provide a variety of psychological assessments for adults and children.”

EASY ACCESS

Dr. Michael Grant also hosts the following groups:

Adult Cognitive Therapy Group
3025 Newcastle Loop, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Every Wednesday at 7pm - 8:30pm
$50 - $50 per session

This weekly group of adults, aged 18+, meets to discuss and learn skills to take their lives back from the negative effects of depression/anxiety. Members support each other as they learn specific skills, learn to give each other productive feedback, and are encouraged to make as many mistakes as possible in a safe, accepting "learning laboratory". Making mistakes and struggling is actually encouraged since it is only through making mistakes and working through difficulties that we learn! This group is about learning and support. Specific techniques and tools from the "CBT Toolbox" are modeled by Dr. Grant and members.
