For over 25 years, I have enjoyed helping adults, couples, adolescents, and children with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship dilemmas, behavior problems, grief, and stress. My clients are curious about themselves and want to understand patterns such as repeatedly thinking, feeling or doing the very things that they would rather not. Respecting the need for confidentiality, kindness and humor, I help them explore conscious and unconscious thoughts/feelings and identify how significant past experiences have shaped their life. Once someone's self awareness develops, they can seek ways to overcome obstacles and resolve internal and external conflicts.

I specialize in psychoanalytically oriented therapy which helps people to seek the meaning of their thoughts, feelings and behavior. I am a faculty member at the International Psychotherapy Institute in Chevy Chase, MD.

When working with children I use play therapy, because it is through play, that children express themselves. I find it helpful to work closely with parents, who know their child best.
