Dr. Mindi Higgins Kessler

“My practice is designed to offer clients an atmosphere of respect and acceptance. I work collaboratively with clients to develop a treatment plan that meets his or her needs. I specialize in treating attachment issues, anxiety, and relationship problems. In particular, I often work with clients who have suffered abuse and neglect and help them to resolve past abuse struggles in order to live a more satisfying life. As a marriage and family therapist, I have a systems orientation, which means that individuals are not blamed for their problems; rather, the circumstances surrounding the development of problems are addressed.

In addition to using systems theory, I am also trained to provide individually oriented treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is designed to treat anxiety disorders and depression; EMDR, designed to alleviate trauma symptoms and other areas where a client is "stuck"; and play therapy.

It is important to me to be aware of the best treatments available to address specific problems. I am committed to working with clients to resolve their problems in a matter that is consistent with the current research and clinical training.”
