“Do you have nightmares, anxiety, short temper or difficult moods? I use a Mindfulness Based Talk-Body method that helps you to feel safe by anchoring new, favorable experiences in your body and then into daily life. When your mind knows that you are safe but your feeling is the opposite, chances are that trauma in your history is the root cause of not being able to fully relax. Since trauma symptoms left alone don't fade with time, you need a targeted mind-body therapy that works directly with your experience in order to change those stubborn patterns.
The Mindfulness-based approach that I use is called Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Experts in trauma agree on the importance of including the body in psychotherapy. Since trauma is physiological in its after effects, the body needs help. Gentle respectful relationship in the therapy supports your inherent capacity to heal and grow.
I enjoy helping my clients to achieve their deepest wishes for freedom, intimacy, and fulfillment. It's wonderful to see how people who thought that the painful patterns could never change, are so happily surprised. I can't imagine better work!”

November 1 to December 6, 2007. Individual interviews October 18 & 25,2007. Trauma injures healthy, effective boundaries that we need for safety, differentiation and connection. When boundaries have been overwhelmed by trauma, we lose the functions of containment, protection and screening so necessary to our sense of safety in our body. This experiential group is specially designed to strengthen positive body experiences in the present. Exercises will be facilitated that build feelings of safety, steadiness, pleasantness and calmness. By working with attention to body sensations, participants will learn to experience a felt sense of boundaries in relation to themselves and others.
Every Thursday at 6:30pm - 8pm

April 3 to May 8, 2008. Interviews March 20 and 27, 2008. Trauma interferes with people's ability to experience pleasure due to blocked or uncomfortable sensations. The experience of pleasure may be infected with shame and confusion, making it easier to avoid pleasure altogether. Everyday pleasure in our body is basic to our health and development. It is our underlying guide in assessing what we really need, such as how much sleep, what food to eat, or what exercise to do. There is a powerful connection between the ability to experience closeness with another and the ability to let down into pleasure.
