Dr. Patricia E. Zurita Ona

Psychologist , PsyD

(925) 956-4636
I'm a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in Walnut Creek. I fundamentally believe that understanding "why or how" a problem has become a problem it's not enough; "doing something about it" is what matters at the end. Therefore, my clinical work strongly encourages behavioral-change processes based on my client's personal values/goals. I use exclusively different evidence-based interventions from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) that have proven to be effective for treating different psychological difficulties.
I primarily work with older adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, problematic eating, body image concerns, or chronic interpersonal problems. Particular areas of expertise are Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I also work with clients with complex emotional dysregulation problems with/without suicidal behaviors.
For more information about who I'm and how I work, please see my website: www.eastbaybehaviortherapycenter.com. If you are not sure about therapy, I invite you to take a look at the free self-assessment links in my website (resources for clients);then you can make an informed decision.

Anger: from furious to curious

This time-limited group will help participants recognize how angry behaviors have become the cause of disruption in their interpersonal relationships in particular. Participants will learn how to map angry situations, respond to anger triggers effectively, engage in empathic conversations when dealing with conflict, regulate your affect when triggered, and furthermore, engage in behaviors that are consistent with their interpersonal values. Please keep in mind that this is not a traditional anger management group that teaches only “time out” or relaxation techniques. The content of this group goes significantly beyond and it incorporates evidence-based skills that will make a difference when dealing with anger.
