“There is often, in marriage and intimate relationships, uncertainty, turmoil, and pain. I wouldn't suggest that I have an ideal client anymore than there might be an ideal therapist. I suspect that clients work best when they are suffering some distress about which they are feeling and experiencing curiosity and a wish to resolve some important concerns. I think that people work best when they are flexible and adaptive and are willing to accept some responsibility-"ownership"- around their role in a conflict, relationship, or transition in their lives.
I work with couples and individuals and attempt to work in a manner that is a careful balance of science and art, infused, I think, with a sense of humanism and humor. My approach is eclectic: balancing interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and dynamic understandings in the context of warmth and empathy.
I have worked with couples, families, and individuals for over twenty five years. My work is a full time commitment and dedication. I do work with clients, as well, that often suffer from, or have relatives that do, simultaneous medical conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.”
