“I offer sensitive listening informed by broad experience and good diagnostic skills. Being heard is basic for anyone to heal. My willingness to be open is what people seem to trust. For me to encourage someone to undergo pain and take risks in trying new behavior to change I have to develop a collaborative partnership based upon mutual respect. I also work to find the balance with each person between the readiness and the ability to make changes.

I use ego psychology and family dynamics for my theoretical approach. But I am eclectic and I use techniques from reality therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness as well. I believe the family can be the most healing entity available to anyone.

I believe my use of a family systems approach has been beneficial for those with ADHD, chronic depression and anxiety, and family dysfunction. I have worked with all age groups in schools, the child welfare agency, the health department, clinics, home settings, and institutions,and my current private practice.”
