“Living a life free from negativity is easier than you think--if you can skillfully learn to face whatever comes your way and know how not to get "hooked" by difficulty. There is a way to be free from destructive emotions and unwanted behavior and to find ease. Through harnessing the power of attention and learning to develop compassion, you can learn to conquer depression, anxiety, ADD, stress-related conditions, and chronic pain. By learning to pause and open to life as it is without judgement, you can skillfully choose new ways to be with your self and your world. Underlying the therapeutic work I do is a valuing of mindful awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations and the practice of loving-kindness. In an intentional, collaborative relationship, I work with persons to accept pleasure, pain, fear, and joy, and all aspects of life with increasing equanimity and balance. I encourage active participation of persons in their own transformation. I am committed to helping people without shortcuts in an environment of trust and affirmation that preserves privacy and autonomy.

My area of expertise includes, but is not limited to: --Chronic pain --Stress-reduction --Emotional problems associated with chronic illness or accidents --Trauma --Grief --Depression and anxiety --Relational conflict --Substance abuse --Attentional problems --Issues related to separation, divorce, and remarriage --Disturbances in reality testing --Developing everyday well-being and happiness --Concentration and Visualization training

Originally trained in neuropsychology, I received ministerial training, and then completed my doctoral work in psychology. Wearing "three hats", I bring a breadth of understanding and sensitivity to the work of therapy, naturally integrating concern for body, mind, and spirit. I integrate mindfulness and loving-kindnness practice in my work.”
