I work with adult clients struggling with a variety of presenting complaints including anxiety, depression, problems in intimate relationships and academic or occupational frustrations. It is not uncommon for individuals I work with to have a history of substance abuse or other addictive behaviors. I do believe that sobriety is necessary in order to effectively engage in individual psychotherapy. If an individual is actively using alcohol or other substances, a program of substance abuse rehabilitation should be completed before traditional psychotherapy begins.

The reason most adults seek psychotherapy is to address some type of emotional pain or discomfort. In general, behavioral symptoms represent efforts to manage these painful, frightening or conflicted feelings. For this reason, my approach to psychotherapy is grounded in a psychodynamic framework informed by cognitive and behavioral principles.

I am currently working as a full-time therapist at a local non-profit social service agency. I also maintain a private practice which allows me to offer appointments during evening and weekend hours. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to make an appointment.
