I feel I have found my niche when working with children, adolescents, and their families. I work hard to provide a safe and inviting environment for my clients and I believe that a good client-therapist fit is essential. Issues such as self-esteem, peer pressure and family stress are often at the root of behavior and/or mood related problems. Since it is often difficult for parents to pinpoint the triggers to their child's behavior, I work with children and their parents to help alleviate the symptoms, thus promoting change in the child and within the family.
In treating children and adolescents, I feel that it's necessary to use a "flexible" approach to counseling, which means incorporating individual, parent, and family sessions into the treatment process. As a Registered Play Therapist, I utilize play therapy techniques when working with children and find that adolescents like my relaxed approach to talk therapy.
My practice offers after school and evening hours to accomodate child/teen schedules.
