Dr. Walton Ehrhardt

Hi, and thank you for your further interest in me. I have practiced since 1973, working now with both male and female clients, ranging in age from five to eighty-five years. I enjoy work with indivduals, and am very comfortable with couples and families. Because I have extensively trained for work with couples, I have over half of my practice working with couples. Major stress, life-situations, conflict, substance abuse, child-parent issues, loss, significant illness, trauma, death and dying, divorce, and re-marriage -- these are situations that I confront in my therapy with individuals, couples, and families.

While Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is often the treatment of choice, I am well-trained (and teach) Psychodynamic Relationship Therapy, especially in my work with couples. Because each person is the product of the two previous generations (Parent and Grandparent), the therapist must be aware of those internalized and unconscious dynamics.

My personal life-experience (almost 50 years of marriage and now grandfather of nine) and my personal therapy have well-prepared me. I practice from a seasoned object relations theory base and integrate that with family systems -- a great "marriage" of internal and external perspectives.
