Dr. Stephen Grinstead

Marriage & Family Therapist , DrAD, LMFT , CADC-II, ACRPS

(916) 993-5309
My passion is working with people suffering with chronic pain who become hopeless and see few treatment options. I offer to work with people (not on them) in order to help them obtain freedom from suffering. I also like to work with couples and families who are living with someone in chronic pain or an addictive disorder. I also offer relapse prevention planning for anyone in recovery. I love working with couples where one or both people are in recovery--or they need to be. I also love helping people develop relapse prevention plans.
My specialty is partnering with people living with chronic pain and coexisting mental health problems including addiction that is due to living with undertreated chronic pain or mismanged chronic pain. My Doctorate is in Addictive Disorders and I'm also an Advanced Certified Relapse Prvention Specialist.
I work collaboratively with my patients' other healthcare providers to ensure more postitive treatment outcomes. I also believe that the patient needs to be the Captain of the treatment team. I am also certified in denial management and can help people stop self-defeating patterns of self-sabotage.
