Are you new to therapy or returning to focus on something different? I have extensive experience helping people cope with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationships, career, spirituality, and gender/sexuality issues. I particularly enjoy helping people make complex decisions about love and work. I value the process of listening closely to people and observing the process of change. I am also adept at offering practical skills so that clients can experience change and growth in a timely way
I enjoy short-term, solution-focused therapy as well as long-term work helping people know themselves better and improving their connection to others. I integrate what I learn about a person's story with cognitive-behavioral therapy (how thoughts affect mood) and mindfulness-based techniques, to see what helps facilitate change and provide healing.
In college, I did my honors thesis on people's ability to appreciate and create humor. My doctoral dissertation was focused on the development of one's sexuality and sexual identity. Currently, I think about what it means to be a good citizen of this world, often while walking my 2 big dogs.
