Real recovery from psychosis is possible. Are you looking for an understanding of unusual experience that promotes healing? Do you want to recover agency and direction in your life? Dialogic practice aims to listen carefully, accepting and exploring differences, so people with alternate views are truly heard and taken seriously. We don’t view negative feelings as a disorder, but as essential guideposts to greater understanding. I agree with Dan Fisher, MD, PhD, a psychiatrist recovered from ‘schizophrenia’, who says medications alone may buy you time, but they rarely solve your problems - you do.
Dialogic training develops our innate capacity to connect with people in deep distress. Many mental health professionals have found Open Dialogue training to be life-changing. I have extensive training in Open Dialogue and related practices for psychosis recovery and offer training that is affordable and tailored to therapists’ needs.
Credentials: International Certification in Open Dialogue, Institute for Dialogic Practice at Yale (currently a faculty supervisor); trained by clinicians recovered from psychosis to work with unusual experiences, facilitate Hearing Voices Network groups, and conduct Maastricht Interviews for Voices/Paranoia; CBT-p, ACT-p, other approaches for psychosis.
