I wonder if you've ever found yourself waking up in the middle of the night feeling consumed by thoughts of regret, worry, and self denigration. You feel frozen either because there are too many options or the options available to you are hard to visualize due to the fog of self-doubt that remains stagnant due to a history of prior "mistakes." Now imagine that the fog slowly starts to lift. You suddenly start to question the validity of your personal criticisms. They don't go away entirely, but you start to turn the volume down, and as you do so, you now see your mistakes as opportunities for growth and fulfillment.

We are constantly bombarded with messages telling us that we need to do it all on our own. I have good news- you are not alone and you don't have to do it on your own! We all have a deep desire to be fully known and fully loved. It is my belief that we can't be fully known and loved by others until we fully know and love ourselves. Having a strong sense of identity and purpose allows us to heal, forgive, and move forward with clarity, hope, and tenacity.

Are you living a life far from what you desire or imagined for yourself? Is your family or child(ren) struggling and you’re not sure what to do? Have you gotten off track somehow? Is your home life, social life, or work unsatisfying? Are your values unclear and do you lack direction? Do you feel out of place, unwanted, or uncomfortable in your own skin? Are you struggling to get positive momentum? Are you overwhelmed by stress? Maybe you experienced trauma or faced significant loss. Or perhaps you are navigating deep patterns or tendencies toward high anxiety, depression, etc., that you have long felt unable to get a handle on.

Do you ever feel like you are on ‘autopilot’ or just ‘going through the motions’ in your day-to-day life? Maybe you fill your schedule so full that you barely have any time in the day to be still... so that you do not have time to feel or process heavy experiences you have been holding on to? Perhaps you have started to notice that your relationships with those around you are becoming harder and harder to maintain and you are unsure how to get out of this cycle. Let me tell you, this life was not meant to live on auto pilot, and you are meant for so much more!

It’s Wednesday night, and you’re up late again binging Netflix. You have to get up early, but you’re terrified of going to sleep where the nightmares lurk. When you finally doze off, it feels like only moments before your alarm starts to blare. Waking you to face another day, more stressed and exhausted. At the office, an innocent interaction with a coworker triggers memories of your trauma. You become caught in that moment again. Your heart races, palms sweat, and every nerve is on edge, ready to leap into action. You just want to run away. Get in your car, start driving, and never look back. But there’s no way to outrun yourself.

Status: Code 4, Inc. (SC4i) was created following the numerous reports of First Responder suicides across the United States and Canada. First Responders are civilian and military members who perform law enforcement, firefighter, EMS, dispatch and other emergency services. Dr. Crampton retired as a paramedic after 25 years in EMS, which gives SC4i a unique position to intimately understand the stressors associated with being a First Responder. The results of these stressors contribute to a vast number of issues. These issues include depression, anxiety, PTSD, Compassion Fatigue, divorce, domestic violence, and substance abuse.

Are you and your partner finding yourselves in constant conflict? Do you feel like you're walking on eggshells, trying to avoid explosive arguments? Are communication issues and loss of intimacy threatening your relationship? This can be a challenging experience for couples, regardless of the stage of your relationship. Unfortunately, many individuals tend to shy away from addressing conflicts in their relationships, leading to underlying resentment that can escalate into more frequent fights and long-term issues.

Life is hard. Maybe you’ve been trying to do it on your own, yet it's not working out. What helps is processing life’s complications with someone who’s professional yet personable. I'm an award-winning provider and former supervisor who's held nearly 3,000 individual sessions, and I'm a person who "gets" others.

When a new client first walks through my office door, one of the initial things I tell them is that by seeking help they have already solved a good portion of their issue. The fact that you have enough courage, strength, humility and self awareness to seek help is a great place to start. It has been an honor for more than 20 years to serve couples and individuals who are struggling with infidelity, sex addiction, substance addiction, intimacy anorexia and intimacy issues. I have also helped men with masculinity issues, intimacy issues and understanding their purpose in life, relationships and community.

How can I find a therapist in Colorado Springs?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
