Ms. Joy Ruth

Clinical Social Work/Therapist , LCSW , ADS

(512) 843-8578
My approach to therapy is wholistic. When an individual comes to counseling, it is because they want something to be different in their lives. Initially, you and I will explore your feelings and concerns and what changes you want or what decisions you want to make. As a feminist, I support individuals as they work to build self-empowerment in relation to others and the environment. In order for counseling to be effective, you will want to make a committment of time and energy and take an active role in the process.
I strive to assist my clients as they get in touch with their feelings and their physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms. I often utilize mindfulness techniques to assist a client in her/his ability to manage their symptoms. I may use acudetox, hypnotherapy, or EMDR to address issues the client brings.
Acudetox consists of acupuncture in the outer ears, or seeds which adhere to the ears. Acudetox may reduce the urge to use substances. Acudetox reduces anxiety, and supports balance and improves sleep. Acudetox may address behavioral addictive practices including high risk sexual practices, compulsive internet use, and consuming food compulsively.
